The Sacrament of Penance (commonly called Confession or the Sacrament of Reconciliation), is one of the seven sacraments recognized by the Catholic Church. Catholics believe that all of the sacraments were instituted by Jesus Christ himself. In scripture we see Jesus give his apostles the authority to forgive sins in the Gospel of John:
“Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.” (John 20: 22-23)
Sin harms our relationship with God and damages our communion with the Church, Christ's Body. Conversion of heart is the beginning of our journey back to God. This return to the Lord and his embrace is manifested in the Sacrament of Reconciliation - a wonderful experience of God's mercy and love for each of us!
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation preparation usually takes place during your child’s second grade year. Please contact Rona Skelton, firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information.
RCIA (18+ years old)
Sacramental Preparation for adults typically takes place through our RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Participants will be Baptised (if not already) and receive their First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
RCIA begins each September and concludes with the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or completing your Sacraments as an Adult, please fill out the information form below or call our office at 850-932-2859, and we will set up an appointment to meet with you.
